What’s the difference between coaching and counseling?

Counseling is about diving deep into your past, unpacking trauma and behavior patterns to discover the "why?"

Coaching is about creating an actionable plan to move forward from where you currently are and decide, "what now?"

Both can lead to transformation.

Do you accept insurance?

I believe therapy works best when your care is guided by your needs—not by an insurance company's requirements.Private-pay therapy allows us to focus on what matters most to you, without session limits, mandatory diagnoses, treatment restrictions, or frequent insurance paperwork. Your care remains more confidential, more personalized, and more flexible.When you invest directly in your mental health, you're choosing care that is designed around your goals rather than what an insurance plan will reimburse.No, I do not accept insurance at this time.I do offer a sliding scale, please contact me for more details.

What if I can’t afford your rates?

My rates are determined carefully to reflect my skill, education, experience, time, and effort. However, I believe strongly that everyone deserves access to care. For this reason, I offer sliding scale payment options. Contact me and we can see if I can offer a sliding scale option that works within your budget.

Do you offer gender affirmation letters of support for gender affirming care?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely, however, for Oregon residents only. I am WPATH trained and able to write letters of support. Contact me for more information.

What will counseling sessions look like?

Accepted Answer

After your initial free call, we will determine the best service for your needs. Then, if counseling is the right fit, we collaborate within our first session on what we want future sessions to look like. This can include starting off with a brief meditation practice, exercises given, or finding breakthroughs solely through conversations. Sessions are typically 50-minutes in duration and can be weekly, biweekly, or monthly. I also offer intensives, which are more condensed counseling that occurs in several frequent sessions within a short period.

What will coaching sessions look like?

After your free initial discovery call, if we determine that coaching is the right fit for you,  we will work together to define your personal goals and create a detailed and actionable plan to achieve them. I will provide guidance, support, and accountability. If you wanted a single session, you'll walk away with a plan and tools to get you there. If we have a longer-term package in place, I'll guide you toward your goals and provide support and connection along the way, with each session bringing additional steps and an adjusted plan as you make progress.

What if I have struggled with therapy or coaching in the past?

Accepted Answer

I love offering a corrective experience with therapy and coaching. I find that a lot of people struggle because they come in, vent, get affirmed that their situation doesn't feel good and then they leave. I offer structure, education, and direction to sessions. Sure, we vent and affirm, and we also seek solutions and actions needed to be taken. I offer practical skills and in the moment interruption of unhelpful patterns.
